BLESSED SACRAMENT SCHOOL ENROLLMENT HAS BEGUN! – Enrollment for the 2010-2011school year is taking place from March 1st through March 29th.  On the weekend of March 13th and 14th, our school will be presenting its new school video at each of the Masses.  (You can go to our school web site to preview it early.)  On March 18th, families and friends are invited to wear your green spirit shirts to show our school pride! Blessed Sacrament’s Enrollment Evening from 5:30p.m. – 7:30p.m. On this evening families may enroll their children for the 2010-2011 school year, receive information about financial assistance and school loans, and have questions answered about the enrollment process.  Anyone who attends this event will have their name put in a drawing to win a free student instructional fee (value $175) for the 2010-2011 school year.  Blessed Sacrament School offers young people a place to grow not only in academics but in their faith.  Our school and staff welcome our parishioners to come and visit our school and see how our young people are growing and learning in a faith filled atmosphere.  If you or you know someone who would like to receive enrollment information or take a tour of the school, please call the school office.  Please do not let the cost of tuition keep you from enrolling your child in our school.  Financial assistance and other avenues of funding are available to make sure all who want a Catholic education may receive it for their children.  We ask for your prayers during this very exciting time for our school!

BLESSED SACRAMENT KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE – MARCH 17TH AT 1P.M. – Parents and children (who will be 5 by September 1st) are invited to Blessed Sacrament’s Kindergarten Round-Up on March 17th at 1:00p.m.  Parents and children will be able to meet Mrs. Venvertloh, hear about the Kindergarten curriculum, meet new friends, take a ride on a school bus, and so much more during the Open House.  If you are a parent of an upcoming Kindergartener or you know someone who might be interested in our program, please call the school at 228-1477 for more information.  We are looking forward to meeting next year’s Kindergarten class!

Illinois Textbook Loan Letter to Governor Quinn – Enclosed you will find a letter concerning the Illinois Textbook Loan Program.  This program has provided our school with new textbooks each year.  This program is an example of our tax money being used to help benefit our children.  Last year, this program was cancelled and I am asking all parents to sign and send this letter or a copy of it to Governor Quinn.  The Catholic schools throughout Illinois are trying to get this program reinstated.  Please send this letter to Governor Quinn.  We usually receive anywhere from $4500 to $8000 to purchase books.  Having this program reinstated would be very beneficial to our students.  Governor Quinn’s address is located at the top of the letter.  Thank you!

School Mass Servers during the Season of Lent – Students who will be serving during the season of Lent do not need to serve the 7:00 am Mass on Wednesdays.  They are being asked to serve the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Wednesday evening instead.  If your child can not serve that evening Mass please have him/her try to find a substitute or call the rectory office to let them know.

Pizza Hut Fundraiser– Our school will be hosting a Pizza Hut evening on March 16th at the Broadway Pizza Hut Store.  When you order dine-in, carry-out or delivery our school will receive 15% of the order.  This money will be used to help our school purchase an “ELMO” which is a special projector that allows 3-D images to be shown on a screen.   There will be a flyer in next week’s family envelope promoting this event.   Our school will be hosting a Pizza Night every third Tuesday during the months of March, April and May.

CELL PHONE USAGE SCHOOL ZONE-Just wanted to help parents be aware that using a cell phone in a school zone while driving could cost you $75.00.  The state of Illinois has banned all cell phone use (texting and calling) in school zones.  If caught the fine is $75.00 for this infraction.  Please be aware that our school zone connects with Berrian’s school zone.  The purpose of this is to make sure all students are safe arriving and leaving from school.  Thanks so much for your help.
