September 10, 2010

We had a very good week.  The children are really starting to know our routine.  We had the centers going this week and they did a great job.  We did some activities for the letter “O”.  We ate octopus stew (a recipe is coming home if you would like to try this yummy treat), we graphed if we liked to eat Oreos apart or together, and we estimated how many Oreos we could eat at one time.

We began our unit on apples this week.  We learned some songs, talked about different kinds of apples, and read some books about apples.  We will continue to talk about apples this week.

In Math we are working on numbers 1, 2 and 3, drawing shapes, and making patterns.  We will be having Q.U. math students in our room on Mondays starting this week.

In Religion we are talking about families and friends.  There is a Family Tree project coming home for you to work on with your child.

We made a project for Grandparents’ Day which is on Sunday.  It would be great if your child could give this to their grandparents or a close friend.

We will be working on rhyming words and opposites this week at school.  A little review at home might be helpful.

I was happy to see so many parents on Tuesday night.  If you could not make it and have any questions about the information that was sent home please let me know.

-Letter of the week is Gg.

-The color of the week is green.

-The shape of the week is triangle.

At home this week review color words red, blue, and green. Practice writing and recognizing Ll, Oo, and Gg.
