Text Box: Our “new” Vista Lab is in its 3rd year of service to Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and Parish. We are very excited to be improving each year! Our Lab is comprised of 25 student stations, a teacher station with a projector and screen to demonstrate lessons in programs such as Microsoft Office, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, and educational Internet sites. We have 2 servers and a network that connects all computers in the school. The Lab also coordinates the use of our 2 interactive white boards complete with laptops and carts for classroom use. Our technology curriculum is integrated with classroom work and teachers work closely with Mrs. Knuffman to make the utmost use of our technology.
Students’ technology needs are supported by Market Day proceeds. We have purchased, among other things, a new network version of Mavis Beacon and updates for our Internet filtering appliance, Comsifter. Internet safety is taught, and stressed at school and for home Internet use. Thank you for making our Market Day efforts successful. Keep it up and, please, spread the word!
Students in grades 5-8 are invited to join Technology Club called S.W.A.T. Team. Technology Makes Learning Click!
Adults are invited to visit the Lab. Our ISPD committee on technology is assisting the school in plans for even more creative future use. Each spring and fall Mrs. Knuffman offers a series of classes for adults to use the Lab and increase their tech-savvy. The adult classes will be held in April – please consult the bulletin for dates and times. Feel free to contact the school office, too, with your input.
We are scheduled to update our 3 year-Technology Plan this year. To read our present Technology Plan Click here!
